4 New Inflatable SUPs from Sevylor

New Sevylor Coleman SUP lineMy first inflatable paddleboard was a Sevylor Samoa made by Coleman. Although it’s not the most high-tech board out there, the price was right and its held up and performed well for many years. I still have it today in fact.

Coleman doesn’t make the Samoa anymore, and for a while I couldn’t find any Sevylor inflatable sup models made by the company. I have always been impressed by the quality and durability of their products, so this was a little disappointing.

However, now I see that they were spending their time wisely – developing not only one, but 4 new iSUPs: Sevylor Indus, the Tomichi and the Willow (see below for more information on all 4). In my opinion, they’ve improved upon what was already a good reliable iSUP. They (1) are more rigid and stable (2) come with a better air pump (3) look much cooler and (4) provide more speed for easier paddling.

These are great choices for beginners or people who want more stability (ie for doing paddleboard yoga). As you’ll notice, they are fairly similar to each other in design and features, but I compare the differences below.

All iSUPs come with:

  • Hand Pump with Built-In Pressure Gauge
The pump nozzle securely locks to the board while inflating, and the pump automatically switches from dual to single action at higher pressures to make fill-up easier.

  • 3 Fins
Each model comes with 2 attached side fins and one larger center fin that is detachable. Fins make maneuvering easier, and more fins helps with stability as well.

  • Board Leash
Whether you are surfing or navigating rougher waters, an ankle leash is helpful in preventing your SUP from getting away from you.

  • Sturdy Carrying Bag
Unlike many iSUP backpacks, his one has mesh sides and drain holes so your board can dry out more easily, and you don’t end up lugging around a bunch of water.

  • Convenient Carrying Handle
Similar to other inflatables, all of these come with a center carrying handle, so you can carry you board at your side in addition to transporting in on your head.

  • Cargo Carriers
Each of these boards includes small bungee cords in the front to secure on-board cargo as well as a large D-ring in the back to attach your leash or other gear. (Keep in mind that if you want additional D-rings, they are cheap to buy and easy to attach).

Paddle Not Included: These packages don’t include a paddle, you can get one here.
