Bluefin Sprint Inflatable SUP (Racing) – Pros & Cons

Do you want a faster inflatable paddleboard that you can use for racing and travel? The Bluefin Sprint Inflatable SUP has a sleek, streamlined design that makes it move quickly through the water with less effort.

Bluefin Sprint Inflatable SUP with Fast, Maneuverable Design

Note: The longer shape (14 feet long) combined with narrow nose, mid-section and tail make this board more aerodynamic than other inflatables. However, it does not go as fast as a fiberglass paddleboard.

That said, this racing model allows you too easily travel with it. In addition, it saves you money on shipping too (free). Not to mention, blow-up paddleboards weigh less than their solid counterparts. Plus, you don’t have to worry about dings or dents (less repair costs).

Inflatable Racing SUP Feels Rigid Like a Hardboad

Is the Bluefin Sprint Inflatable Paddleboard a Good Value?

Bluefin Sprint SUP Design with Drop Stitch Interior and Heavy Duty Military Grade ExteriorThe SUP body is constructed of a military-grade PVC material (think indestructible river rafts). The drop-stitch interior also makes this board feel ultra firm, so it feels very stable.

As a result, you can use the Bluefin Sprint for much more than just racing. For example, the width makes it wide enough for SUP yoga, while the pointed nose enables you to ride through surf and river waves more easily.

Furthermore, the extended length allows for a higher weight capacity (350 lbs). Consequently, you can transport more cargo, kids or pets.

Note: You can use this Bluefin iSUP for lots of water activities. It travels really well too, which makes it an even better value.

Accessories Included with Your Bluefin Inflatable Paddleboard:

Bluefin Sprint Paddleboard Accessories: Paddle, Pump, Leash, Backpack, Tracking FinThe Sprint 14′ comes as a complete package, so you can take it out on the water without needing to buy any additional accessories.

However, you are getting basic gear (which keeps the price low on this bundle). I’ve listed the pros and cons below, in case you want to upgrade on certain accessories.

1. Adjustable Aluminum Paddle

This SUP paddle breaks down into 3 shorter segments, so it travels easily in your bag. In addition, you adjust the length for different size riders.

However, the aluminum shaft weighs more than fiberglass or carbon fiber. Therefore, if you want a lighter weight paddle (for easily paddling), you can buy an upgraded SUP paddle.

That said, the weight difference usually is less than 1 lb, and beginners may not even notice.

2. Dual-Action High Pressure Pump

Electric Paddleboard Pump to Blow Up SUP FastFirst, a dual-action pump inflates your SUP faster than a single action pump, but slower than a triple action pump. So, if you plan on inflating your SUP frequently, you may appreciate a faster air pump.

Alternatively, you can invest in an electric paddleboard pump, which eliminates the task of manually blowing up your board. Many people prefer the convenience of electric, however, you’ll need to be near your vehicle in order to plug it in (12V DC).

Note: Max inflation for this board is 15 PSI. However, some people only blow up their SUPs to 12 PSI because it takes less time and requires less effort. Either option works fine and performs well on smooth water, but for choppy conditions, 15 PSI is best.

3. SUP Ankle Leash

You get a coiled spring leash in this package, which is optimal for stand up paddleboarding. (Compared to a straight leash for surfing).

Bluefin Heavy Duty Extra Large SUP Backpack for Traveling

4. SUP Backpack

This SUP backpack can carry your board, pump, paddle, etc when you travel. People typically prefer backpacks over duffels because they are easier and more comfortable to carry.

5. Detachable Tracking Fin

Bluefin makes this inflatable SUP with 2 outer short “stubby” fins and a middle longer tracking fin, which detaches. You get the best of both worlds here because you can remove the long fin for travel, yet you get the benefit of 3 fins as compared to only 1.

You also have the option to paddle with or without the tracking fin. This longer fin helps keep your board move straight forward but can become a hazard in shallow rivers.

6. Inflatable Repair Kit:

These kits are essential to have “just in case”. They work well to quickly plug small holes, and this convenient add-on saves you money from having to buy one separately.
